"Just connect Claude to Meta and let it cook." That's the latest utopia trending on LinkedIn.
The promise? Give the AI access to your data, and it will optimize your campaigns in real time.
In the real world of high-scale performance, it's a very efficient way to burn cash.
The core issue is context. The machine can process the data. But it is your responsibility to provide the context and adjust the execution.
Without context, look at what happens:
- Claude sees your Google Branded Search numbers and tells you to double the budget. It genuinely believes that increasing spend creates more brand searches and doubles revenue. It has zero context that your Meta top-of-funnel traffic is the actual engine driving that intent.
- It looks strictly at platform dashboards, completely oblivious to your backend CRM loops, hidden attribution factors, and blended metrics.
- It naturally understands correlations. It doesn't understand incrementality, diminishing returns, or creative fatigue.
A smart growth system still needs an operator, not just an API connection.
You need to force-feed the machine your actual business economics. You need to teach it how your channels impact each other outside the dashboard. You need to define the boundaries before you let it analyze the matrix.
The algorithm understands numbers. The operator understands the reality behind the numbers.
